Up Access Data Types Primary Keys

Instructions to Import GeoNetMap into MS Access.

The following article assumes you have already created a database or are planning
 to import it into an existing database. 

Before you get started you will have to log into Geobytes using your access credentials,
download the map update and copy all of the files into your databases data directory. 
For example: c:\Geobytes 

1.    Open Microsoft Access

 

2.    Open database which will have the map imported into.

Click OK.

 

3.    In Access click on File, Get External Data, Import...

 

4.    Select the file to be imported into your database.

Click Import.

 

5.    Select Delimited.

Click Next.

 

6.    Select Comma as the delimiter as our data is stored as comma delimited quoted text.
Check First Row contains Field Names.

Click Next.

 

7.    Select In a New Table.

Click Next.

 

8.    Check the field names data types match our recommended data types.
And be sure to select 'Yes (No Duplicates)' for Indexed with all primary keys.

Click Next.

 

9.    Select Choose my own primary key, Making sure to select the same as the Geobytes'
 recommended primary keys of each table in the GeoNetMap. 

Click Next.

 

10.    Click Finish.
